INTRODUCTION
Project to improve the application of and compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards and International Standards of Auditing in Trinidad and Tobago

Background
In 2002 the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT), as part of its strategic initiative for developing the accountancy profession in Trinidad and Tobago, arranged for an independent review of the observance of International Financial Reporting and Auditing Standards in Trinidad and Tobago. This review was carried out by David Cairns, a highly respected and well known accountant and author from the UK.

At the same time ICATT started and eventually negotiated a non-reimbursable technical-cooperation funding from the Multilateral Investment Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). This agreement with the IADB was signed on 12th March 2003.

Project Team
In March 2005, Mrs. Linda Maraj was hired as the new Project Manager to facilitate the day to day project activities with primary responsibilities of ensuring the efficient, timely and effective management of the Project. Subsequent to which the Project has realized a steady progression of the achievement of deliverables.

The strategic leadership of the Project, including oversight, monitoring , resolution of key issues and acceptance of key deliverables rest with the active involvement of the Members of the Project Steering Committee (PSC). Additionally, the PSC will provide guidance to support the Project Manager by giving advice, making decisions and issuing instructions in areas such as planning, providing technical input on each component and signing off key deliverables thus ensuring the successful completion of this Project by March 2008.
