Conference 2009
- Guyana
ICAC's 27th Annual Conference of
Accountants will be held in Georgetown,
Guyana over the period June 25-27, 2009
and is being hosted by the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Guyana (ICAG).
The conference topics will focus on the
many developments within the regional
accountancy profession and will examine
ways in which the profession can further
contribute to the development and growth
of the Caribbean region.
The conference sessions will also
examine developments within the global
accountancy profession including,
enhancements to IFRS arising from
ongoing convergence projects; ongoing
international focus on money laundering
and fraud; the roles of finance
professionals in the governance of
organisations; accountants’ corporate
social responsibility and the impact of
the global economic crises caused by
rising energy costs and commodity
prices.
The 27th Annual Conference of
Accountants will coincide with the 20th
anniversary of the formation of ICAC on
October 28, 1988. In this regard, the
2009 conference planning committee will
include, among its activities, a panel
discussion comprising past and present
leaders of the regional body to discuss
the future role of the ICAC in an
increasingly globally-regulated
environment.
Guyana represents the future of regional
tourism, an eco-tourism product which is
being increasingly sought after and the
2009 conference will provide delegates
and spouses with a “true eco-tourism
experience” of the beauty of the country
and its rich and diverse culture.
