Speaker Bio: Derek Hudson
Derek
Hudson is the President of BG Trinidad &
Tobago with accountability for the
overall well-being of BG’s Trinidad
business, its internal and external
reputation, key in-country
relationships, and budget and asset
business plan. Prior to this
appointment, Mr. Hudson was a member of
BG Trinidad & Tobago’s Senior Management
Team with a wide ranging portfolio
across all activities, with special
emphasis on Policy and Corporate
Affairs, Government Relations and
development of new business
opportunities. Previous to this, he was
Vice President of one of BG’s upstream
UK businesses with specific
responsibility for the overall
operations, financial management,
strategy, and business development of
the company’s interests in the UK
continental shelf.
Mr. Hudson has worked in the oil and gas
industry for nineteen years. He joined
the oil industry as a Petroleum
Geologist in 1989, working for the state
oil company, Petrotrin, in Trinidad. In
the early 1990’s, he joined Mobil Oil
Corporation in Dallas, Texas as a
geophysicist before returning to
Petrotrin in 1992. Mr. Hudson joined BG
Trinidad and Tobago Ltd in 1995 as an
Operations Geologist, rapidly moving up
the ranks to Exploration Manager in
1997. He joined the commercial
directorate in the UK in 1998 and worked
in the commercial negotiations group,
taking up the position of Vice President
of the UK business in November 2000. He
rejoined BG Trinidad and Tobago as Chief
of Staff in April 2004.
Mr. Hudson is also a member of the Board
of Atlantic LNG and in December, 2005,
also took up the non-Executive post of
Chairman of the Port Authority of
Trinidad and Tobago.
