Speaker Bio: Ewart Williams
Mr. Williams was appointed Governor of
the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago
in July 2002 following a thirty-year
career with the International Monetary
Fund (IMF).
During his Fund career, he was the
International Monetary Fund (IMF)
Resident Representative to Jamaica;
Assistant Director in charge of Central
America and Mexico; and Deputy Director
in the Western Hemisphere Department. In
1988-1989, he returned to Trinidad and
Tobago for eighteen months, as the
Advisor to then Central Bank Governor,
Mr. Williams Demas, under a UNDP-sponsored
technical assistance project.
In July 2007, Mr. Williams was
re-appointed Governor of the Central
Bank of Trinidad and Tobago for a second
five-year term.
He holds a Bachelor of Sciences Degree
in Economics and a Masters Degree in
Economics from the University of the
West Indies.
