Speaker Bio: Ronald Ramkissoon
Dr.
Ronald Ramkissoon studied Economics at
the University of the West Indies from
which he gained his B.Sc., M.Sc. and
Ph.D. degrees.
Dr. Ramkissoon was employed by the
Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago for
twelve years as an Economist. Since 1992
he has been employed by one of the
largest Caribbean commercial banks,
Republic Bank Ltd and is presently the
Bank’s Senior Economist and Manager of
its Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU).
He is the editor of the Bank’s quarterly
publication Republic Economic Newsletter
(REN), and has also written and
published on several subjects mainly in
monetary and trade matters.
Dr. Ramkissoon is a member of several
business and professional bodies. He is
a board member of the Telecommunications
Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT).
He is also a member of the Energy Sector
Committee of the Trinidad and Tobago
Chamber of Industry and Commerce (TTCIC)
and a Vice President of the Caribbean
Association of Industry and Commerce (CAIC).
He was a member of the Multi-sectoral
Core Group that developed a Strategic
Plan for Trinidad and Tobago (Vision
2020). He is President of the Trinidad
and Tobago Economics Association (TTEA)
and a member of the American Economics
Association (AEA). Dr. Ramkissoon was
Chairman of the Consultative Group on
Small Economies (CGSE) of the FTAA.
