Speaker Bio: Suresh Sookoo [Speeches]
 Suresh
Sookoo is a distinguished banker with
more than 30 years of experience in
banking and the financial services
industry. Mr. Sookoo began his career as
a teller at the then Royal Bank of
Trinidad and Tobago in 1974. Over three
decades, he has worked his way to become
the RBTT Financial Group’s Chief
Executive Officer, leading an Executive
Management Team that is charged with
RBTT’s strategic direction and
performance.
RBTT is a leading diversified financial
services Group operating in 13
jurisdictions in the Caribbean and
Central America, from Jamaica in the
north to Suriname in the south and Costa
Rica in the west. The Group comprises 34
subsidiaries and associate companies,
offering a comprehensive range of
financial services.
Mr. Sookoo’s experience in banking and
finance includes Corporate and Consumer
Banking, Risk Management and Finance.
Throughout his career, he has held
several senior managerial positions
including Group Director – Risk
Management and Finance, Managing
Director and Chief Executive Officer of
RBTT Bank Limited and Group Chief
Operating Officer of RBTT Financial
Holdings Limited. He has played critical
roles in transforming the performance of
several of the Group’s business and
functional Units.
In his role as Group CEO, Mr. Sookoo
sits on several RBTT Boards including
RBTT Financial Holdings Limited and
serves as Chairman of the Boards of RBTT
Bank Limited, RBTT Trust Limited, RBTT
Merchant Bank Limited, RBTT Bank N.V.,
RBTT Bank International N.V., RBTT Bank
Aruba N.V., and RBTT Bank Jamaica
Limited.
He holds a B.Sc. (Honours) degree in
Management Studies and an Executive
Masters in Business Administration
(Distinction) from the University of the
West Indies. He has attended several
American Management Association
programmes in Leadership and Executive
Management, as well as programmes in
Corporate Finance at New York Institute
of Finance and Stanford University.
