Speaker Bio: Sylvia Barrett [Speeches]
 Sylvia
WY Barrett is the Deputy Director of
International Federation of Accountants’
(IFAC) Member Body Development
activities which supports the work of
the Compliance Advisory Panel and the
Developing Nations Committee. As Deputy
Director, Sylvia oversees the Member
Body Compliance Program, evaluation of
IFAC membership applications and
development of guidance and tools to
assist professional accountancy
organizations. Sylvia joined IFAC in
2003 as a Technical Manager with the
International Auditing and Assurance
Standards Board.
After qualifying as a Chartered
Accountant in Canada, Sylvia worked in a
technical and professional capacity for
Grant Thornton in Canada and KPMG in New
Zealand and the Netherlands. Sylvia’s
professional work experience in New
Zealand also includes working at the New
Zealand Treasury as part of its
Accounting Policy Team.
